Patience Thoms passed away on 2 March 2006 at the age of 91. Patience was the first International President from Australia. Patience received an OBE for service to improve the status of women in 1970 from the Queen in Brisbane. She was awarded the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, the Key to the City of Seoul, South Korea and the Key to the City of San Jose in Central America in 1970. She received BPW International’s Badge of Honour in 1999.
