Our Founder: Dr. Lena Madesin Phillips
In 1951 the LEB.P.W. came of age and Dr. Lena Madesin Phillips, looking back to 1930, made this appraisal: "Common danger had not then, as it has now, taught the peoples of all nations the necessity of international understanding and cooperation. . ."
The International Federation of Business and Professional Women (IFBPW) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland, on August 26, 1930, on the initiative of Dr. Lena Madesin Phillips. As President of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs of the United States of America, she organized several "Goodwill Tours" to Europe in 1928 and 1929.
