BPW International Help - The Van for Chernihiv is ready

Your Support Matters for our Help to Ukraine!

BPW International and BPW Europe have been in contact with our local BPW Club Chernihiv and its members since the start of the conflict in Ukraine and raised funds to alleviate their burdens.

A van for Chernihiv, Ukraine

January 2024 has seen an exciting development in this project as a second-hand VW Transporter van has been purchased in Sofia, Bulgaria, using some of the project’s donated funds. The vehicle is now having a full service, new winter tyres and small works so that it is ready for the job ahead.

This month Viktoria Filatova, Yuliia Zayaka and Valdyslava Martyhovych will leave Chernihiv in Ukraine on the journey to Sofia to be then able to drive this vehicle back, to the town that needs the help. For ongoing security reasons, we cannot share the route or dates as these women will be leaving a war zone. However, when safe to do so we will be sharing updates and photographs with our BPW sisters around the globe. Many Federations and Clubs have been wonderfully kind donating, and we would like to thank friends and family who have also come to the aid of this valuable project.

But we still have time to donate!

The BPW Chernihiv members have written a shopping list of goods that are still needed. We need to buy a good quality generator, small home solar panels and solar mobile phone chargers. These are important as many of the Ukrainian Government announcements come via electronic means; it is an issue of life or death.  They have asked for hot water bottles, thermos flasks and insulated drinking cups, as with rolling power cuts they need to ensure they can heat the body when needed; first aid kits for a home, baby milk and nappies. Some of these smaller items we would simply order for our own homes via a shopping app, and they would be delivered to our doors. However, imagine the project donation link is that same app, any amount can now be donated to buy any of the above items.

Can you help a BPW sister please? These women are doing amazing things in the town they call home for others around them. They embody the spirit of our founder Dr Lena Madison-Phillips. Now is the time they need us.
