Empowerment of Women and Girls entrenched in Poverty as a Human Right and Ethical Prevention of Human Trafficking
Monday, 18 March 2024 - 12.30pm EDT - 2 hours
virtual, Zoom, register in advance
The International Federation of Business and Professional Women, Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, and Courage for Freedom invite you to our discussion of human rights and safety crisis that exists around the globe – Human Trafficking.
Human Trafficking is a global safety and security issue that disproportionately affects women and girls. The commodification of persons in sex, labor, forced marriage, and surrogacy is an issue that is growing at alarming rates yet challenging to prove. This crime against humanity affects millions worldwide and is directly associated with other criminal activities and harmful practices and health outcomes to families and their communities.
Through this panel, you will hear presentations and conversations by Survivors whose lived experiences and Stakeholders whose work represents a vast collection of best practices and ethical responses addressing poverty and human trafficking intersections that are working. Yes, Institutional reforms are necessary in all areas, along with economic backing to support the work ahead but it must be ethic-centric.
We invite persons from all government, sectors, ngo agencies, economic sector and industries to come and hear what is needed to end the coercion, manipulation, and exploitation of some of our most vulnerable populations through empowerment around the world.
